When you strip an air purifier down to its bare bones it’s essentially about pushing air through a HEPA filter (High Efficiency Particulate Arrestance – the inventiveness of the creators of the first HEPA didn’t extend to naming the device). The HEPA filter removes the microscopic PM10 and PM2.5 particles which are harmful to human health.
It’s this back to basics approach that Smart Air Filters takes with its own range of DIY air purifiers. Earlier we reviewed (and fell in love with) the Original DIY Air Purifier which is available for Rs 3,399.
Now, Smart Air Filters has announced that it is accepting pre-orders for its more advanced Cannon DIY Air Purifier. The big advantage that the Cannon DIY Air Purifier has over the Original DIY Air Purifier is that it channels the air through a cylinder, forcing more of the air through the HEPA filter. This means that the Cannon DIY Air Purifier is able to purify the room of harmful particles much faster than the Original DIY Air Purifier.
The Cannon DIY Air Purifier will be available from the 7th of February and comes with a price tag of Rs 8,599. As with the Original DIY Air Purifier, it requires a little bit of assembly when you receive it – although you certainly don’t need a degree from IIT to do so! If you can use a screwdriver then you’ll be set.
Data from Smart Air Purifier has found that it is 96% effective at removing harmful PM10 and PM2.5 particles from a room 300 sq-ft in size. This makes it ideal for a living room or a large bedroom.
The Cannon DIY Air Purifier will be available in white and pink variants. There are only limited numbers available for this first round of pre-orders although Smart Air Filters hope that by March they’ll have regular stock of the unit.
At Rs 8,599 it is more than twice the price of the Original DIY Air Purifier but for that you get a unit that has twice the coverage and still half as expensive as branded air purifiers which do the exact same thing.
